Jessica changed my life. She provided me the guidance, support, information and courage I needed to really change my habits and make the right decisions in my life to feel better about my health, weight and body. There are many reasons why someone would seek out a health coach. In my case, I wanted to live a more active lifestyle and have an amazing, healthy body. I’ve been working with Jessica for the past 4 months. I’m on the 6-month program, and I’m extremely happy with my results.
I’ll admit I was initially skeptical and felt this program would be a waste of money and time. Before this program, I had already been active and healthy through playing soccer and keeping a low alcohol consumption. So, for the first 2 months, I felt silly writing in a journal - which was part of the program. However, over time I realized that it was great writing down my patterns and my feelings throughout the day. Who would have thought, food could be the cause of my sleepless nights, my anxiety and acid reflux symptoms? Working with Jessica has been an eye opener to a whole new world of living a healthier lifestyle. I love the fact that there’s no “diet,” or limitation as to what you can indulge on.
I’ve been taking medication for anxiety and acid reflux (which is usually a symptom of anxiety). I was feeling a bit trapped with depending on medication to feel better and gaining weight was definitely one of the side affects. For the past two months, I have stopped taking my acid reflux pills. I’ve also been able to sleep throughout the night, and those cravings for sweets and starchy food has gone out the window. Due to anxiety, my active lifestyle was limited, but having gone through this program I’ve been able to set goals, and it feels GREAT to see results without spending every minute at the gym. I love knowing my love for food can continue, and not planning my life around specific diet plans.
Jessica has been amazing throughout this entire process. There’s never a moment where she’s not available to make sure I stick to my goals, and she provides constant positive feedback. I’ve enjoyed her simple recipes, especially since I’m always on the go. I came to Jessica because I thought all I needed was a little guidance on what to eat when and in what combination. The reality is, Jessica's place in my life goes so far beyond what I eat. I am a self-proclaimed "sugar monster." Or at least I was until I met Jess. She and I began working together at the beginning of the year and I have been amazed at the changes I've experienced firsthand, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally, as well. Yes, I lost those 5 pounds that everyone wants to get rid of. But, I also lost a dependency on sugar and coffee, while gaining clarity and energy in the process. When I decided to try out Jess's Sexy Sugar Cleanse it wasn't because I wanted to lose weight, and it wasn't because I necessarily thought I was addicted to sugar. I live a fairly healthy lifestyle, I eat mostly vegetables at every meal, I exercise regularly, and I practice self-care making sure I get my 8+ hours of sleep, meditate, etc. For someone who seems to do everything right I often though, "Why am I not feeling better? Why do I not have more energy? Why do I crash at 3pm?"
I committed to Jess's cleanse to up level my health, re set my system, and to figure out how I could have more energy throughout the day by possibly pinpointing foods that were making me feel lethargic, gassy, and generally unwell. After the first three days I realized two important things: 1. I was addicted to caffeine- specifically coffee. 2. I was eating more sugar and foods with added ingredients than I thought. Coffee was contributing to much of my anxiety, overall tiredness, and 3pm crash. I also noticed that I was often grabbing for popcorn, granola, or other high glycemic foods around 3pm when I got low energy.
The 10 day detox taught me two very important things that I now try to incorporate in my everyday routine. First that I am highly sensitive to coffee and that I should limit coffee on an everyday basis. I now drink matcha the majority of the time. Second, I try to eat more protein rich snacks and meals. This requires a bit more meal prepping but I have more sustained energy throughout the day when I eat more protein. I still eat several meals on Jess's plan- while practicing balance. I'll have wine on the weekend and I will still grab that popcorn bowl from time to time. But if I ever feel like I'm run down, falling off track, or just not feeling my best I love knowing that I have this 10 day detox in my back pocket to get me back on track.
